Who wants to buy a Miata?
There are too many interesting bikes for sale, new and used. Here are the ones that have caught my eye today.
First off is the above Ducati. Low-mileage 1200s, basically my dream bike. I even like the powder-coated exhaust! This has been on CL for awhile now. I don’t really want to spend this much on a bike...but I could totally justify it if it was my only f orm of transportation! What could go wrong with a daily driven 1200cc Italian bike and no dealers in my area?

I’ll admit to some curiosity about the new Ninja 400. Once good weather comes back (43 of the last 45 days have been rainy, kill me) I plan on trying one out. Buuuuuut but but... While the 400 is allegedly a great entry-level bike and the cost is reasonable brand new... I’d take a 650 if the price was right!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The only bike on the list that I’ve ridden, the engine was so magnificent that I couldn’t tell you the first thing about the rest of the bike. I know there were some major updates at some point that fixed some issues, unsure if this 2016 is pre or post fix. I think it might be the “bad” one :(
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The dark horse. I’m going to say this right now, I would absolutely rock the pink wrap. Not only that, I’d enjoy every second of it. Up until my death, which I imagine would be pretty quick piloting an S1000r with my limited experience.

I’m drawn to all the quirky designs Honda has made over the past few decades. Case-in-point, this wacky helix. There’s no way I could bring myself to spend the $3k or so that 99% of scooters seem to go for in this market, but $1k... That’s more like it.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
AAnd one more scoot for good measure. I doubt a scooter will be the next purchase, but I suppose if a cheap enough one shows up I could buy it as a commuter and just keep saving cash. Something like this, but... Maybe $800ish?

1: uh huh you said it. DD a highly strung italitan bike with no dealer support...
2: the ninjas: I LOVE the ninja 400. I actually prefer it to the 650, its lighter, more flickable, easier on tires and gas too. I had a 650 ninja at some point. was a very meh bike.
3: that was a bad one and that looks like it was crashed...
4: your death would come about as quickly as the monster.
scoots: ew.

I’m not seeing any bad options on this list.
I'm biased, but you should join Team Scooter.

There can’t be too many people cross shopping Nin ja 400s and S1000Rs/Monster 1200s ! As for which one to get, the answer is all of them. And some d ual sports.

Get a real steel vintage vespa and build the motor and replace the exhaust. In an evening you can build a bike that will run at highway speed. And all of that on 10" tires.

400 and an RC390 are at the top of my list for an extended test ride in a few months. I wish the ninja was just.... A bit more interesting. Maybe it just needs a neon pink wrap?

Ha! Yeah... I probably should stick to a more entry-level bike. Ri ght after getting my endorsement I spent the better part of t wo months at the local Ducati dealership , testing practically everything they had . Having all that power in absolutely any gear is intoxicating.
Dual s port is also very much something I want.

I would love to do that. Unfortunately t he Vespa tax intersects with the antique hipster tax and it's hard to find any examples for under eleventy-billion dollars.

But for just a few dollars more, you could get a psychotic 2-stroke death machine

How cool would it be to do an oppo scooter meet?

Pretty darn cool. Slow, but cool.
My Yamaha has a theoretical top speed of 55. I've managed to get up to 49mph so far. That's on a 125cc scooter.

Get a bike you can ride hard and not be afraid of. Obviously, getting a permit and a Busa in the same day is a great progression but it's not for everyone.

I saw that. I’m intrigued and confused.
He's not going to get anywhere close to what he's asking for it, right?

On a related note,I have a jacket, back protector and one piece racing suit. If you’re interested, Oppo discount applies. Iirc you're close enough in height to me that they might fit.

Is that like a one-off factory custom? Sounded like a backyard Franken bike from what I could make out of his ad

They were a factory built street bike but it was more of a homolagation special. They had a 2 stroke v4, and are pretty rare today. Any 2 stroke street bike is worth pretty good money.
The one in the ad is heavily upgraded.

Huh. Very cool. Makes me think of the 250cc 4 cylinder street bikes that revved to ungodly redlines f rom the 90s.

Unless it's downhill, 52 is my top end on my Zuma. It's still tons of fun to ride many miles.

I’ll find you one here then. Decent riders are $2-3k all day long. Shipping it is the obvious choice, but riding from Chicago to Seattle seems more you ;)

I haven't had a chance for a proper ride on open roads yet. It's all just been short trips. I'm looking forward to going out for a few hours once it gets warmer. On a long enough straight, I could maybe do 52. But I need my phone GPS to confirm that speed.

I’ve purposely left out out-of-state CL searching! Too many deals... My willpower is only so strong....
There is a certain smart car and small bike loving friend of ours who has offered to help transport a vehicle to Seattle....

I’m obviously definitely not biased or anything. There’s only one good option here. But that windscreen has got to go. You can ride the monster in Urban mode until you start getting used to it or while you commute. Then flip over to touring or sport mode when you want to have more fun, or all of the fun. It’s also not du e for the big desmo service until 18k.

I did. I hadn’t been riding much before I had a crash. Most of my two wheel time is spent pedaling, so I decided to sell the motorcycle. I still have a bit of gear laying around and haven’t gotten rid of it yet.
No lasting injury. Should’ve worn better riding pants though.
Bike had bent forks and busted fairings. Easy but not cheap to repair.

I’m not really sure; in original condition those are worth a TON but that one seems pretty far from stock
